the light is really awful in my room at 2am but okay here i added some wings because i didn’t want to waste what little blue paint was left on my palette. Yes, the bird is actually blue.

I painted a mango. I could push the highlights a bit more on the upper right, right at the edge of the mango, but I don’t think I really need to, as it is it’s fine and the best thing I’ve painted all week. Now I’m torn between just stopping here and calling it good to end on a high note or if I should go onto grab some fruit from the table and paint that.

I know I pass better than this but I just can’t seem to fix my fucking eyes. Also I think my ear is still a bit high and the whole thing might be skewed to the right by a hair. It still reads mostly fine when I flip it though. The nose seems a little wide and flat and the outside boundary of my face needs to be adjusted. 

I’m really dissatisfied with this right now. I think I’m just going to scrap this completely. 

Progress so far. I’m thinking I’ll work in layers for this, at least two, as it is right now, I can’t really add the kind of leafyness what I want to because any paint I add just gets blended in. I’m also worried about the figure not reading well, but I think that’s down to the rendering of the figure. It’s going to be interesting to try and keep it a warm neutral gray while also including the influence of all this green surrounding it. 

I think this one works. I’ll do a lot of desaturated color, use grays for the base color of everything except the monster which I’ll give a bit of a warm orange. I’ll also rotate the hand in view so that the back of the hand is visible because it looks awkward as it is now.
